A vacation on Eleuthera is the perfect chance to get away and recharge your engine. This is the relaxed Bahama Island. This is where beaches are more sought after than casinos. This is where fly fishing for bonefish is a valuable skill. This is where the sunshine is omnipresent, and clear waters are effervescent. Are you ready for a trip to paradise?

Bonefish Barbis Beach Bungalow is a Bahamas beachfront rental home, located on one of the "Out Islands", Eleuthera. This Bahamas vacation rental is directly on a private, pink-sanded, deserted beach.

A few of the common comments of past renters is that

1) the view is spectacular

2) they did not see a single soul on the beach the entire stay

3) they did not think beaches this nice were still around

4) they drove around the island, looking for great beaches, but could find none better than the one in front of Bonefish Barbis

5) It looks better in person than in the pictures on this web site!

A recent renter wrote, "we had a wonderful time in your house - it was a dream. Looking at a few other houses for rent, nothing can beat your location. Your house has everything for a perfect beach holiday. We cooked most of the days at home, as we were lucky to get a lot of fresh fish and lobsters at the ramp at GH or Tarpum Bay. The people were so friendly, especially Byron."

After having spent a number of weeks at our house now, let me offer our humble opinion. There is NO better location on Eleuthera. Our house is situated atop a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. From this vantage point the view is most spectacular. At this location, on a hill on the Atlantic side, there is a prevailing wind off the Atlantic, which helps to keep the heat down, and the bugs away.

We have a nice road from Queens Highway down to the house. We have driven around the island, and trust me, this is often not the case. Many roads are a bumpy rutted out trip from beyond. We are located only 2 miles from GH airport, and only 5 miles further into Governors Harbour. We are convinced that we have one of the best locations on the island.

The most beautiful pink sand beach is just down the stairs. This beach can be walked for at least 3 miles in either direction and typically you would see no one else on the entire length. This is actually a nice sandy beach for swimming. That is often not the case with Bahamian beaches, especially on the other side of the island. Often beaches are rocky and shallow for quite a distance out. At this beach, you can actually step right in and go swimming. Not to mention that there is some of the BEST snorkeling on Eleuthera right here at our door. We have done the routine of driving north and south on the island searching out The Elusive Beaches of Eleuthera and have snorkeled at most them. I have seen nothing better than what I have seen snorkeling right off our beach (see recent picture of lobster I speared below).

The conclusion...This IS the place you are looking for! Everything that you really want out of a Bahamian Beach vacation is here at your finger tips. Our last visit, I gave up on traveling around the island, and just stayed and enjoyed my time right here at our house. Enjoy!

We are just back from our trip down, April '09! Here is a list of recent improvements. Some were made due to suggestions from our quests, some just needed to be done. Check out the new pictures posted above!
1. New Valances over both bedroom windows along with new cordless shades.
2. New Ceiling fans in main room.
3. 11 New Wine Glasses, Knife sharpener.
4. New Deluxe Gas Grill!
5. New Towels, Sheets, Dish towels!
6. Replaced those 2 annoying warped stair treads on the way down to the beach!
7. Scott got very busy with a new garden! The area between the driveway and house was cleared and new plants were added, see before and after below!

Attention Runners & Joggers! Thanks to one of our guests who loves to run, it was discovered that you can run right out our driveway heading south and the road turns into a nice sand road that can be followed all the way to Club Med beach in GH. This is about 5 miles of scenic running along a hill overlooking the beautiful Atlantic beach all the way! No traffic, and rarely another person will be seen. Another great feature of our location.
